What is Global Web Technologies?
Global Web Technologies is a viral referral platform. You build a campaign (a hosted lead-capture page), share its link, and every person who signs up automatically gets their own unique referral URL. When their friends sign up via that URL, the original subscriber climbs your reward ladder. You get a growing email list; your subscribers get rewards for spreading the word.
Getting started in 3 steps
-
1
Create your first campaign
Go to your Dashboard and click + Create Campaign. Give it a title, headline, description and (optionally) a hero image.
-
2
Set up your reward tiers
Inside the campaign editor, add 1-5 reward tiers (e.g. 3 referrals → free e-book, 10 referrals → 1 month free). Subscribers see their progress on the share page.
-
3
Share your campaign URL
Each campaign has a public URL shown on the dashboard. Post it on social media, email it to your list, or embed it in your website. That's the link that starts the viral loop.
Anatomy of a campaign
- Lead-capture page — the hosted page visitors land on (your campaign URL).
- Share page — what a new subscriber sees right after signing up; contains their personal referral link and reward progress.
- Reward tiers — milestones unlocked as their referral count grows.
- Subscribers list — every email captured, plus who referred whom.
- Autoresponder hook (Pro) — pushes new subscribers into Mailchimp, ConvertKit, ActiveCampaign, etc.
What happens when someone signs up
Step-by-step, the moment a visitor enters their email on your lead-capture page:
-
1
Email validation
We block disposable / throw-away email domains and normalise the address (e.g. Gmail dots).
-
2
Optional SMS verification
If you've enabled SMS verification on the campaign, the visitor must enter their phone number and confirm a one-time code via Twilio before the lead is saved.
-
3
Lead is recorded
A new subscriber row is created with a unique referral token. If they arrived via an existing referral link, that relationship is stored too.
-
4
Autoresponder push (Pro)
If you've connected Mailchimp / ConvertKit / ActiveCampaign / etc, the lead is forwarded to the configured list with referral metadata as tags or fields.
-
5
Share page is shown
The new subscriber lands on a thank-you / share page with their personal referral URL, reward ladder progress and one-click share buttons.
-
6
Optional share-link email
We can also email the new subscriber a copy of their share link so they can come back to it any time.
How referral links work
When subscriber A shares their link and subscriber B signs up via it:
-
1
Referral token detected
The visitor's URL carries a token like
?ref=abc123. We look up subscriber A from that token. -
2
Subscriber B signs up
The new lead is recorded the same way as any other sign-up — but with
referred_bypointing at subscriber A. -
3
Subscriber A's count goes up
Their referral total increments. If they cross a reward tier threshold, the reward unlocks immediately on their share page.
-
4
Subscriber B gets their own link
And the loop continues — B can now refer C, D, E, and so on.
Reward tiers
Reward tiers turn your campaign into a game. Each tier has a referral threshold (e.g. 3, 10, 25) and a reward description. When a subscriber hits that threshold, the tier flips from locked to unlocked on their share page. Edit your tiers any time from the campaign editor — changes apply to all subscribers immediately.
Autoresponder integrations Pro
On the Pro plan you can forward every new subscriber to your existing email tool — Mailchimp, ConvertKit, ActiveCampaign, MailerLite, AWeber and others. Configure it per-campaign in the editor; use the Send test subscriber button to verify your API key and list ID before going live.
Email campaigns (broadcast via your SMTP)
Send announcements, product updates and promotions directly to the subscribers you've captured through your campaigns. Broadcasts go out through your own SMTP server (Gmail, Mailgun, SendGrid, Amazon SES, your hosting provider, etc.) so deliverability, sender reputation and any sending costs stay completely under your control — we never proxy these emails through our platform.
1. Connect your SMTP server
Open Profile, scroll to "Your SMTP server", and enter host, port, username, password, encryption (TLS/SSL) and a verified From address. Hit Send test email to me to confirm it works before broadcasting.
2. Compose & send
Go to Email Campaigns in the top nav. Pick a campaign filter (one campaign or all), an audience (everyone, only referred, only direct), write your subject and message, and click Send broadcast. We wrap your message in a clean responsive template before sending.
- Common SMTP settings: Gmail —
smtp.gmail.com, port587, TLS, app password as the password. - Sending limits and pricing are whatever your SMTP provider sets. We don't add a per-message charge.
- SMTP credentials are stored encrypted at rest. The password field on Profile leaves the existing value untouched if you submit it blank.
- Each broadcast is logged on the Email Campaigns page with sent / failed counts so you can audit deliveries.
- Whether this feature is included depends on your plan. Admins can enable or disable it on any membership plan from Admin → Membership Plans.
SMS verification (anti-abuse) Pro
For high-value rewards you can require visitors to verify a phone number before their sign-up counts. We use your own Twilio account (Account SID, Auth Token, Verify Service SID) so messaging costs stay with you. Set it up under Profile → Twilio.
Custom domains Pro
Run campaigns on your own domain (e.g. launch.yourbrand.com)
instead of the default URL. Add a domain in the campaign editor, point a CNAME to our
server, and we handle SSL automatically.
Analytics & exports
Your dashboard shows total subscribers, total referrals and conversion rate (referred / total). From any campaign you can export the full subscriber list as CSV — including referral relationships — to import into your CRM or backup.
Billing, trials & plans
- All plans start with a free trial — no card required up-front.
- Add a card any time from Pricing or the trial reminder email.
- Plans are monthly subscriptions; cancel any time from the Stripe billing portal.
- Upgrading or downgrading is instant — pricing differences are pro-rated by Stripe.
